‘Smart money’ investor interest in sustainable ag technologies

October 18, 2010

TerraManus is a product that is in the right place at the right time

Demand for food is rising

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations predicts that global food demand will increase 70 percent by 2050.  This is influenced by global population rising from today’s 7 billion to over 9 billion in 50 years, with majority in urban areas.

Food production farm land shrinking, yields hit ceiling

Factors includes the expanding urban area, land diverted to increased biofuels,  depleted water sources, polluted soil from over use of chemicals and poor farming practices, effects of climate changes, and the public’s desire for reforestation.

Land management technology opportunities

Some of the key technologies helping food producers produce in a more sustainable manner are:

  • Crop yield enhancing techniques
  • Smart irrigation – reduce agricultural water usage
  • Environmentally friendly alternative to traditional chemicals

Investment appeal

Any technology that uses resources in a more efficient manner and is less damaging to the environment is likely to be welcomed by investors. Established agriculture firms are looking to internalize sustainable technologies by investing in innovative companies with promising, sustainable solutions.

TerraManus Technologies, LLC presents TerraStar technology at Ag Innovation Showcase, May 18-19

September 1, 2009

Stephen Carr, CEO and Cofounder of TerraManus Technologies, LLC gave a well received media presentation at the fist annual Ag Innovation Showcase. He outlined TerraStar technologies and the solid science based research that substantiates the assertions made about our unique soil conditioning systems. The showcase was a venture of the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, the Nidus Center for Scientific Enterprise and the Larta Institute. The intention of the conference was to shine a spotlight on top agribusinesses, highlighting their technologies and providing opportunities and collaborative ventures with other related companies and investors.

In his presentation, Mr. Carr took full advantage of the opportunity to expound on the many agricultural and ecological advantages of the ground tilling system. He touched on soil erosion, water flow management and related environmental problems, and also the diverse market potential in agriculture, biofuel, real estate, land reclamation, mining, environmental agencies, construction, and third world countries.

After the presentation many people approached Stephen and his staff with great interest and a desire to learn more about the technologies. Get a little insight on the audience reaction here.

This event featured fifteen emerging companies, all of which were carefully selected by the event’s distinguished Evaluation Committee. It was a great honor to be selected to both attend the conference and present TerraManus Technologies, LLC to the industry and potential investors
